Craven Cottage is a detached traditional farmhouse cottage in Foston-on-the-Wolds, a quiet village in the East Yorkshire Wolds. Original exposed timber beams, quarry tiled flooring and an old inglenook fireplace give this three-bedroom property real character. The oven and hob sit inside the inglenook itself. Pew bench seating, fairy lights in the dining room and a leather sofa in the sitting room complete the feel.

The Yorkshire Wolds surround the village with quiet roads, walking routes and open countryside. You can walk to a mill pond, feed the fish and follow the beck through fields. Guests regularly spot deer, hares, owls, kingfishers and red admirals from the garden. The large enclosed garden has a lawn, patio, fruit trees and a greenhouse.

Sleeps 7 across three bedrooms: a triple room with three single beds, a double with TV and a second double. Two bathrooms: a family bathroom with bath and a ground-floor wet room. Note: this property does not have a hot tub.

Lovely place to stay, very big rooms and lots of space.

The location of the cottage was perfect for our requirements. In a beautiful quiet little village. Good access to seaside, zoo, parks and also Beverly and Driffield. We had 3 children 6 and under and they had so much fun in the large and safe garden when they were not at the beach. The house had all facilities required to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Would definitely return in the future. Due to the very hot weather it would have been nice to have a sun parasol for the garden.

4 adults had a good holiday is the spacious Craven Cottage. It was comfortable and quiet, with comfortable beds. However, the windows of the cottage are dirty and in dire need of a clean. The property needs a good clean dirty mirrors, dust on the backs of the doors. The filter in the dishwasher was full of old food and even a piece of plastic. dirty childrens hand prints on wall of room with single beds in it. The welcome tea tray with biscuits and tea coffee etc was a nice touch. We too experienced a lot of cobwebs, the cottage had visitors before us so we too assume they were missed. Overall general cleanliness was the only problem we had. The house and location were good for us. Thank you.

Comfortable cottage in a peaceful area. The lounge features 2 comfortable settees and a good selection of entertainment devices including a nice easy to use TV. The kitchen was reasonably well equipped though some of the light bulbs were missing in the vicinity of the cooker. A utility room with dishwasher, washing machine and freezer proved very useful. The garden is very large but unfortunately we were unable to do it justice due to the weather. Alan

Plenty big enough for our party of 7. Really nice property. Only things I would suggest are changing the door handleslocks, they are lovely and in keeping however, really noisy when trying to go in a room during the eveningnighttime. Could do with more drawer storage in the big triple room, maybe instead of the large wardrobe replaced with 3 sets of drawers? I did have to clean the washing machine including seals and run a cleaner through it as they were mouldy and the drawer clearly hadn't been washed for a long time. However this didn't affect clothes and was a god send. Given the size of the house, another airer would have been useful. Dishwasher was very useful too. Beautiful area though and beds were comfortable. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

Great house in a lovely peaceful area, small kids loved the huge garden. For the price we paid, the week was exceptional value. We could have spent a lot more on other properties and definitely not been as happy. Owner was on hand if any problems, which was great as well. Loved it loved it loved it.

A wonderful stay in a peaceful setting. ..the large cottage is very comfortable and wellappointed with everything we required, plus a beautiful huge garden visited by deer, and constant birdsong. The quiet village is lovely, with many surrounding walks through the countryside. The welcome pack was much appreciated, and we felt instantly at home. Would recommend highly, and love to return!

The property in some places was dirty. There was lots of dust on the beams in the lounge and in the cupboards in the utility room. There was an old birthday balloon on the ceiling too obviously from the previous people. There is definitely a need for more blinds at the windows also. The sun shines in through the kitchen window where you prepare everything but it is blinding and the blind is fastened up with a cable tie. The bath is situated under the bathroom window and there is nothing at it and in the dark people outside would see you climbing in and out and the landing window needs something up at it as it lets lots of light in on a morning. As a family with children we do not close the bedroom doors. In the winter also something would be needed at the dining room windows as you would want some privacy. The batteries in the remote control also didnt work and we had to buy more.

Lovely very large house with plenty of character. Very comfortable. Good WiFi. Enjoyed the books and jigsaws. Lovely relaxing views towards the back garden, which is very large. The house was nicely warm and cosy, with very large bedrooms , comfortable beds and plenty of wardrobe space. The location was also good for getting out and about but at the same time peaceful and quiet. It is situated on a lane but the traffic is very mimimal and mainly farm vehicles. Thank you for a lovely relaxing stay. Will definitely come back.

Craven Cottage does not disappoint. The most charming home anybody could imagine. Everything is of good quality whilst maintaining its rustic charm. Christmas was indeed magical for our family here. We also found the owners very helpful. The welcome pack was the best we 've ever had even including ones we've had in France the whole experience of staying here in such a beautiful part of the world will always be such a special memory for us . Welcoming, lovely warm house . I was happy to see a Christmas tree in the lounge . We are hoping to go back again in summer to make use of that beautiful large garden . The house was clean warm and comfortable . I had a quick question for the owners which was answered very quickly by email and everything was rectified. My only request would be for more outdoor lighting. But we loved it . We will be back .

Not an issue, but with six adults, it would be nice to have a shower over the bath upstairs, however the bath was very good for our two grandchildren. The decor could do with a refresh, but well equipped, very comfortable and peacefully located. We had a lovely family week in Craven Cottage. Will keep this on the radar for a future break. It was clear that the cleaner hadnt done a good job and there is a bee problem in the roof above the second double bedroom. I feel with regards to the accommodation a tick rating on the Sykes site of 3 would be more appropriate than 4. The garden was lovely.

We had a lovely stay here at Craven Cottage! Set in a beautiful location, close to some cities and towns as well as the coast there was plenty to visit! The cottage itself was beautiful and comfortable to stay in, plenty of room for everyone to stay in, as well as an excellent kitchen. The garden was amazing, especially when the sun was out, with lots of birds to see flying in and out of the garden as well. We'd love to stay here again

Really enjoyed our stay at Craven Cottage it was lovely. The cottage was cosy and clean. The only thing I would recommend is something putting down at the side for cars to park as it was a nightmare on the grass verge. Over all we would defiantly recommend.

Craven Cottage is cosy and comfortable and full of character, atmosphere and original features. It's wellequipped and had everything we needed and we particularly enjoyed the books and games and jigsaws. The fairy lights on the dining room ceiling are such a magical feature. There's plenty of hot water and the beds and sofas are comfy and we loved the quaint old fashioned furniture such as the pews in the dining room and having a cosy fire in the wood burner. The huge garden is enchanting and bursting with Nature! It was wonderful to see so many Red Admirals plus rabbits, pheasants and partridges and at night time hear the hooting owls. As we all live in a busy town centre area, the peacefulness was such a treat and so relaxing. The charming village is perfectly placed for the coast and many visitor attractions. We'd recommend 'The Deep', Burton Agnes Hall and the seal colony at Flamborough. We'd like to thank the owners for sharing their lovely cottage and thanks too for the tempting welcome tray. Disappointed there was no comfort in the lounge and dining area. The shower overflowed because the drain was not fit for purpose. Could not get the hob to work. Needs a complete refurbishment and then it would be a lovely cottage again.

The second time we've rented this house. There's always a worry that when you return somewhere it won't live up to expectation but this time it was even better. Beautiful house surrounded by beautiful gardens and lovely runs to neighbouring villages. A grown ups house but with lots of little buts for the kids to do too. We will be back.

After reading all the positive reviews on Craven cottage it seemed ideal for our week break with our family and grandchildren. We wanted somewhere quiet with a large safe garden for the children to play explore and easy access to nearby places. It surpassed all our needs and expectations and we would recommend it highly. Don't worry about traffic noise as it doesn't exist and during the night the only sound you are likely to hear is from a nearby owl. For anyone with a love for wildlife in the garden you won't be disappointed either. Take some bird seed for the feeders and relax on the patio whilst a variety of birds entertain you. Look out for the rabbits, visiting pheasant and cheeky squirrels who mop up any food the birds drop. If you are lucky you may even see deer. We were often late in setting off for a day trip with so much happening in the garden! Yes, a beautiful relaxing place for sure

We had a good time here, the garden is wonderful an area to be in, lots of thing to do, We would have liked somewhere to put our wine glass like coffee table in the living room, but that's our preference, would love to come back here again.

It was like being in your own home. It had all the facilities that you need on a holiday. Plenty of room to move around in. It was really beautiful setting and quiet. We had a lot of birds, rabbits and the occasional pheasant in the garden while eating breakfast, it was great. It was just what we needed a relaxing break from our hectic work life as we all work in the health sector. I would highly recommend this property .

Just perfect

This cottage is a wonderful location and place to stay. Its within easy reach to the coast and other interesting places such as Beverley. Its also a great place if you enjoy wildlife, starting in the garden where there is alot of bird activity especially if you fill up the bird feeders. Top hill Low Nature reserve nearby was fantastic where we watched a kingfisher fishing. RSPB Bempton Cliffs was also fascinating. Local walks were good too. When holidaying in February its always a bit of a worry that the house is warm. However there is no worry with Craven Cottage the warmth was obvious as soon as we entered and stayed beautifully warm throughout our stay. We turned the thermostat down at night and when we went out for the day but it still was cosy. The wood burning stove was an added bonus too, but not essential for comfort. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen well equipped with a luxury coffee maker. We would love to return sometime as a week is not long enough and maybe bring bikes as the roads are very quiet and flat.

A beautiful house to spend quality time with your friends or family. It was lovely to see deer, rabbits, hares and pheasants in the garden. The house was spotlessly clean, the kitchen was fully equipped with everything you may need. We had no issues and will certainly recommend to anyone and will look at returning.

Loved the house, so homely and full of character. Everything provided for a very comfortable stay. The welcome tray was a real treat, teas, coffees, biscuits, bottle of prosecco! The garden is beautiful and we were visited daily by 3 roe deer, as well as pheasants, rabbits and a variety of garden birds. What a delight. Interesting area, Flamborough Head is a must, we watched a large colony of seals near the lighthouse.

Absolutely stunning cottage with all the facilities you could wish for and in a beautiful quite village. Had a wonderful break will definitely be booking again. The cottage was spotless and had everything you need and more.

Firstly, The cottage is in a beautiful, idyllic setting. The first thing we noticed was the peace and quiet and on entering through the side gate the garden which is a wow. Craven cottage itself is a gorgeous, big, yet cosy cottage. You have everything you need here. The kitchen wants for nothing just yourself and your food, the unique dining room with church pews and lovely lighting, the comfy sofas, the log fire, the comfiest beds, pillows, duvets sets you up for a deep sleep. If you cant sleep, go outside or just look through the window at the array of stars, a magnificent sight, listen to the wildlife. We spent a lot of the time in the garden and were amazed to be visited twice by a family of deer, rabbits and their babies and too many species of birds to mention all munching on the huge fruit trees. The pears are delicious! We visited a few places like Bridlington and Beverley etc but were drawn back to spend time in and out of the cottage. Theres lots of walks near the cottage and just down the lane is the river.. I also have to add that the owners of the cottage are very helpful if you are needing any information.. we will definitely be returning!

Craven cottage was a perfect location for us to spend a week with our parents taking them round their old haunts short drives to Hull & Beverley and the Coast at Brid just a few miles! The cottage was really peaceful lovely garden even deer and rabbits coming in to eat the fallen fruit. Unless you're a '4 in a bed winner', the cottage had everything we needed and v. cosy with the woodburner. 1 caution to watch out for the dstairs shower which fills overflows quite quickly but overall a fab place

Lovely house and garden but lacked TLC

Lovely property in a quiet rural location but stull close enough to the coast. Very clean house and and very comfortable beds. Kitchen is well equipped the only thing it didn't have was a garlic press. Great communication with property owners. Only thing we found a little problematic was the shower which doesn't drain very quickly so the water overflows into the main area other than that everything was great.

The accommodation was very well equipped, with everything needed for a threenight stay. The location was a perfectly quiet place to relax and close enough to the Flamborough Cliffs and other attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Carven Cottage and would love to visit again in the future. Many thanks for an excellent stay.
