48 High Street, Bridlington

We spent a lovely week in this cosy cottage at 48 Old High Street. We had everything we needed. There is some roadside parking and a free car park just a short walk away. Owner was very helpful with a couple of questions.

This quaint cottage in an attractive seaside old town made a special holiday for our young kids who were enthralled with the original features, eclectic ornaments, and surrounding shops including traditional sweet shop. They loved sleeping in the attic too. The description, communications, and guest handbook were all very good. A few observations 1 the budget fridge was leaking when we arrived no condensationfrost control and we mentioned to customer services WhatsApp bot but we didn't find it a useful interaction 2 there is no outside space for kids to play so TV was essential for saving some of our sanity 3 everything we could think of for selfcatering accommodation was provided for except a hairdryer 4 the cottage was tastefully restored and decorated and matched the photos but even in summer was dim and nothing like as bright as the photos 5 wardrobe space is limited for clothes if staying more than a few nights 6 shower cubicle is open so may be tricky for younger kids not to cause flood need to get in with them. These are just some observations for the sake of sharing and not issues that made us regretful in the slightest. The master double bed was large and comfortable and the shower was piping hot. Especially considering price I think we did very well indeed!!

Me and my family really enjoyed our stay at 48 high street. The cottage was extremely clean and really nicely decorated and loved in keeping features of the cottage. The beds were very comfortable. Was lovely and quiet. Overall delightful. Would definitely stay here again.

Betty's cottage was a lovely and comfortable base for our week. Spotless, well maintained and furnished, we found it was a haven from high temperatures and crowds. The kitchen is really good very well equipped in a small space. The clever storage spaces throughout the cottage and the personal touches meant we felt very at home straight away. The old High Street is well worth exploring interesting history and architecture, the Priory and Church Green, art galleries, cafes, restaurants , independent shops, including a pharmacy , a bigger Coop very near on Quay Street. You need to check opening times as some are quite limited, but there's plenty going on live music at the vegan cafe pub, folk night at 'The Board'. Also very handy for exploring into the Wolds or further north up the coast. Highly recommend.

Lovely cottsge in the heart of the old town, this is our second year back tea coffee and biscuits provided, with all the facilities and a washing machine which is really good for a small kitchen. The owner Steve also gave us a voucher for the nearby tearooms which was very thoughtful

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you were not fully satisfied with the property, as so many are according to the feedback we normally receive. The cleaner did not have a missed call and I'm sorry you were not able to reach Sykes for help it was a very busy week due to the half term but we did receive a lot of calls so I'm sorry if you were not able to wait in a queue. There is also an email address to get hold of the owner in the property's black book.The owner takes pride in the fact that every one who stays is happy and the cleanliness of the property is to a high a standard possible. The owner confirmed you left one day early but we had no contact until the end of your stay. The owner would have gladly helped if he'd known you weren't happy with something as he does take complaints seriously. Once he saw you had left a day early via the ring doorbell, he went over to check everything. He did not find any dirty utensils or pans but did replace the baking trays as they are scuffed and a bit worn now after a season of regular use. He found no issues with the bed or bedding in fact many customers have commented on how comfortable they are, as can be seen in the feedback. He checked for mugs and found 11 in total so not sure why these were not sufficient or big enough. The towels provided were a standard sized hand towel and bath towel for each person. The heating was on around 10 hours per day during your stay as the owner has a record of this. He could also see that some of the radiators were turned down in some rooms as the property actually gets very warm. The heating is simple to use and noone else has reported a problem with it. The small hole in the floor you have mentioned is under the bed due to the property being very old it is not a trip hazard as you had to look under the bed to find it. The seating and kitchen is as advertised and shown in the pictures and the price you paid was actually very good value for money at this time of year, compared to other similar properties. The owner found no cleanliness issues and the utensils were all clean. The welcome pack inlcudes some basic essentials for your stay but not everyone drinks alcohol so wine is not included. I hope you at least enjoyed the lovely area during your stay but we are sorry this property was not for you.

Beautiful little cottage, lovely and clean. Situated in the old town it gives the impression of oldy worldly. Five minutes walk to shops, half hour walk to the beach and leisure centre. We enjoyed a lovely short break.

This is our second visit to 48 High Street and we love it. We will definitely be back again.

Really lovely cottage with good local amenities

This is the second time we have stayed at this property and we still love it. Such a cute cottage with a very comfy bed and the kids love the attic bedroom. Best thing is the area, the Old Town is wonderful for exploring.

Gorgeous little cottage right on the old high street in Bridlington. It is small but perfectly formed with lovely shops and cafes right nearby.

Nice cottage, big bedrooms comfy beds but a lack of hanging space, wants wardrobes and drawers theres plenty of space to put them in bedrooms, nice size shower room. The heating wants setting properly, was cold in morning, heating wants setting to come on at 7.30am for couple of hours again midday and at 6.00pm for the evening, there were times it never came on, I got up and rads were cold and on going out still cold ok turn the ring but by time it was getting radiators warm you are going out, came back one afternoon 2.00pm and radiators were red hot, only popped in to get something, wrong time to be having heating on, stove wood burner never used, ok I suppose if you are stopping in on evening. Found you could hear tv or radio through walls from next door. The carpets slip want none slip ones. The back garden or whatever you call it is none existent, covered in green moss, wouldnt want to sit at side of dustbins on a hot day. Cottage set in a good location.

We had the most amazing time at the cottage. We had everything we needed. Its superbly situated and we were able to do so many lovely things. The High Street is such a wonderful friendly place and we managed to have breakfast at the Tea room, grab supplies from the newsagent, visit the bakery and buy antiques. We will definitely be back. My little girl loved the added Christmas decorations, made it really special for her. Thank you! Highly recommend staying at this cottage, Bridlington has so much to offer both young and old.

We had a fantastic stay for my birthday. We really enjoyed it and are looking at coming back next year. The cottage is in the perfect location. Only a couple of things I would mention is that its listed with on road parking which implies you can park outside. This is true however you can only stay an hour. There is parking in the free car park a few minutes walk away. We did get a starter pack for the fire but we were only given one log I would have expected a few more as we didnt bring any with us on the first day. Lastly a fire glove would be useful as the stove does get partially hot to open when in use for a little while. Overall we had a fabulous stay and we would highly recommend this little cottage. We cant wait to come back x

This is such a beautiful cottage to stay at. Perfect location to all amenities shops take aways & a lovely walk to the beach. Close to all attractions for us as a family. Everything you need in the cottage and its cosy & so comfortable. Quiet street easy to park. Will be booking again. The owner was friendly and provided me with lots of information.

Great little cottage in a great location. Top bedroom is open to the stairs so possibly not ideal for toddlersyoung kids. Other than that it's spot on

Cottage nicely presented only drawback was people coming right up to the window to look in on reading the notice on the window saying it is a holiday let very off putting especially when you are having a meal. ... other wise a comfortable cottage

On first arriving didn't no if we could get any parking,lucky enough we was outside cottage,only park for one hour when yo see parking attendent,free parking at Stepney Grove around the corner. Wasn't intending to cook while we was there,just breakfast maybe,had a walk local to find pub food, found one what served food at tea time. Accommodation was reasonably,brought my own pillow,but pillows provided where bit flat not comfortable,bed was good, duvet was a winter one,so was very hot to sleep in,asked for summer duvet or sheet to be cooler at night. Bathroom was to a very good standard,but found water was not flowing properly,so lifted plug hole found alot of hairs in there blocking water flow. Asked Lucy about duvet and cleaning,she was brilliant,came around same day thank you Lucy.when we settled down at night to watch abit of tv, the day after,asked neighbours either side of cottage if sound tv was to lound,couldn't get any answer,so asked hairdresser next she door she said walls are very thin can hear everything ,got to talk to one neighbour said was loud the first night,so next night he slept in different room,put voulme down to respect him sorry.I would say Betty's Cottage is upto a very good standard i would love to stop again.

Holiday was relaxing and a nice break away from the bussel of current life. Due to it being such an old cottage and as a man over 6ft tall I did bump my head on several occasions but this could be seen as part of the charm. I would definitely stay here again.

The owner has done a lovely job renovating the property and drawing out its potential. The living space is small, so seating for 5 may be difficult and it is not really that suitable for eating in. The bedrooms are quite spacious, so it is a great property to use as a base. Shortterm parking can be had just opposite, and there is a free carpark just around the corner. If you do not like cooking, there are a number of take away places nearby as well, although we tended to eat out. We did walk to the beach once, with a couple of kids, and it took about 30 minutes. There are quite a few places to see, with Scarborough and York being relatively close. There is no outside space worth speaking about. This was not an issue, since we only used the accommodation. Areas where the accommodation could improve are include 2 pillows per person, 1 seemed a little stingy look to improve the size and quality of the towels, they were very thin and even my 9 year old daughter thought the main towel was a hand towel. Finally, consider adapting your shower to include a door. This is not essential for your guests' comfort, but you may find some less careful guests end up causing floods.

This little cottage on the High Street was exactly as pictured and has been restored to a good standard, but keeping it's quirkiness. It stayed quite cool even in the current high temperatures. I did find that the TV being high on the wall made it difficult to watch. The kitchen is small but well equipped with everything you need. As previously mentioned the outdoor area was disappointing and an eyesore, cigarette ends everywhere, the property particulars does say no smoking in or around the cottage. You would also have to sit among the bins and the neighbours washing strung across the alley. Maybe a small screen across and a few potted plants would make this area more appealing. The bedrooms were quite large and the beds very comfortable, not sure about the brushed cotton bedding in the summer though, there is also a lack of coat hangers, there was only one in the wardrobe. There is also an iron and ironing board in the wardrobe which isn't mentioned in Sykes description, also it says there is a sofa bed which there isn't. The bathroom is modern, with a large open shower area. Note to owner, the shower tray needs sealing at floor level. All in all we enjoyed our stay in Betty's Cottage, and the old town, we would definitely stay again. I would also like to mention Lucy, the cleaner, for doing a good job.

The cottage is exactly as it appears in the photos. The owner has given a lot of care and attention when updating the building and it looks amazing! We loved how small, cosy and quirky it is. The cottage is positioned in the centre of the High Street so you are surrounded by shops, pubs and restaurants which is great. The downside to being on the High Street is that you cannot park outside of the property between 8am and 6pm. We found a space on an adjoining street easily but for some people this may be an issue. The property is said to have a garden but we found this to be an alley way which was shared with a neighbour. There is a table and chairs in the alley way but you would be sitting in amongst some ladders, stacks of roof tiles and the bins for the property if you were to use it. There were a lot of cigarette butts on the floor so this appears to be a handy smoking area for those who indulge but I wouldn't suggest it to be a useable space for anything else. We had our 7 month old son with us and the owner supplied a cot which was brilliant and saved us from taking our own. However, while the property itself is child friendly the neighbours clearly aren't! On our penultimate morning our son was crying for a bottle, a situation which we always resolve in less than 5 minutes. The neighbour felt the need to bang on the wall during this short period of noise adding to the stress of trying to feed a crying baby. After this incident we attempted to not be in the property as much as possible as we did not want to offend the neighbour. This slightly spoiled the end of our stay as we were on edge if the baby made any noise. Overall we did enjoy our time at the property and it looks fantastic and is in a nice location
